Ways To Build Links for SEO

Building links has always been a hot topic in the affiliate industry. When ranking sites search engines often look at the number and quality of incoming links towards a site or a sites page - I really want to stress quality of links. Many webmasters, including poker affiliates, choose to focus on the number of links pointing to their sites rather than quality. I must admit when I first started I was doing the same thing. After reading a lot of what poker SEO guru Randy Ray (owner of Poker SEO) had to say, I finally learned the basics of building links for success. In this article I will explain ways that you can get links towards your website that will help with your SEO efforts.

The best way that you can get links is simple – Produce Quality and Helpful Content. Writing content that is of good quality and helpful to the readers will always produce natural links. These links will look good to Google and other major search engines and should really help you produce even more traffic leading to even more links. If you can write 100 quality pages of content for your website you will find some excellent links pointing towards your site.

Another great way is to network with other webmasters in your niche; for me that means connecting with other poker affiliates. This may be hard to do in some niches but as a poker affiliate webmaster it is quiet simple as there is a wicked Poker Affiliate Forum. If you cannot find a forum or community with webmasters in the same niche as you, I would try contacting a few sites that you find in the SERPs. Making friends within the industry is a great way to get links back towards your site. My suggestion: put a link to a friend’s site on one of your pages, show them and simply ask if they could give you one back in the future. Most webmasters won’t mind at all.

Directories and Article Submission Sites are another two ways that you can gain some backlinks. I am not suggesting you submit to any random directory or article submission site, but there are a few quality sites that are worth the link. Some great directories to submit your site to are the DMOZ and Yahoo directories. Many people will find article submission sites such as Ezine Articles to submit articles with their links in them. Although this could work, there are some down sides to using a submission site such as Ezine. A great approach for article submission is to write a top notch article and contact an authority site asking them if they would like to use the article with one backlink to your site within the article. You may have to ask a few different sites but it will be worth it. If you are a poker affiliate there is a new site called RSSPoker.com that allows webmasters to submit poker articles with backlinks to their site in the articles. This site is run by a friend of mine and is a great way to get a great link and targeted traffic.

Before I wrap this article up I want to get out one important point - Linking out to other websites is never a bad thing. You will find the more you link out to other sites, yes including your competitors, the more links you will get towards your own site. Try it.
