Another fellow poker affiliate posted a question in the poker affiliate forums that was basically asking how to take his business (and income) to the next level. As an affiliate he is generating around $2000 per month from his sites and I assume he wants to make the step up to $4000 or more per month. I can really relate to this post because I was at this level about a year ago and had some of the same thoughts going through my head. In the past 12 months I have taken my monthly affiliate income from around $2000 to over double that and it continues to grow. Below I will share some steps I took to get there:
Re-investing Money – I think this is possibly the biggest thing that has helped me. Every month I keep money in my online accounts so that I have some money to re-invest into my sites. When your not making a significant amount as an affiliate you need to focus on spending money on things that will give you results sooner rather than later to help with cash flow. I did a great job investing in advertising back then and it really helped me grow. As you start to get more money you can invest in other things such as website designs, banners, images, or anything else you can think of that will help you get conversions from your traffic. And finally, when you have a lot of money in the bank you can start buying other affiliates sites which can instantly help grow your business.
Don’t Let Up – After you start making some decent income it is REALLY easy to start to let up on working as much as you kind of feel the money is just rolling in. If you stop working at the level you were before how do you expect to grow your income? You may also struggle to even keep a steady income because it is becoming more competitive every day. Make sure you continue to keep working hard just like you did when you first started.
Negotiate For Higher Pay – One of the easiest things to do when looking to grow your affiliate income is negotiating for a higher MGR or CPA deal. If you prove to your affiliate manager that you can send quality players and that you are growing as an affiliate you have a good chance of getting something higher than the starting CPA or MGR rate. Currently I am trying to negotiate a 5% MGR increase at one of the brands I promote that would results in at least $200 extra per month. If I can get a small increase at a couple different affiliate programs it could amount to an extra $1000 per month.
Those are three solid tips that, if you concentrate on, should help you continue to grow your affiliate income. Thanks to Mike Wittmeyer for making a great post at Randy’s blog that really opened my eyes in taking my affiliate business to the next level.
