November was a good month overall… business went well, had some fun in Vegas, and was just an overall solid month. Below I have my November recap for the goals I posted, and then my December goals.
November Affiliate Goals Recap:
Post all NFL games + at least 5 CFB per week – Got this done, lots of traffic this month. I had a record month for football at TheSportsGeek.com, and my writers did an exceptional job with their picks which has helped repeat visitors. In the last 30 days I’ve had 719 visits from the term “sports geek” and 490 from “the sports geek” – pretty cool to see.
Make 1st page for new sports betting site – Sitting at the top of the 2nd page. Slowwwwwly moving up.
Make 1st page for supplement site – Bottom of first page or top of second I think… been bouncing around a little bit, but I’ve seen a tiny bit of SE traffic which is nice.
Stay connected with my email lists – I have been doing a good job with both of my main lists. I even got a facebook page going for my main sports site.
Wake up no later than 10am M-F – Did a good job with this.
Write 10 pages of static content for the geek – Got more then 10 up including pages that Prop wrote for me (sports betting strategy articles) which were VERY well written!
10k affiliate revenue – Didn’t quite hit this.
Expenses under 3k – Went a little over this with a big content order.
DECEMBER AFFILIATE GOALS:
For personal goals.. same old. I want to keep working out 4-6 times per week and maybe change up my workout routine. Play as much hockey as possible for cardio. And then enjoy family, friends and food during the holidays of course! I also need to thank two more people who were late subscribing to the YouTube videos for last post:
A common question coming from poker players or anyone interested in becoming a poker affiliate is “how much exactly do poker affiliates earn?” There isn’t a set amount of money or salary that a poker affiliate will earn (as the pay is performance based) and there is no limit on how much a poker affiliate can earn, but I will try to provide a rough idea of what poker affiliates earn for those interested.
First of all it is important to understand that as a poker affiliate you might earn $0 lifetime. Now if you work hard I am confident anyone can earn a little bit of money from poker affiliating, but there is nothing saying that you will earn anything at all.
If you are looking to become a poker affiliate you should understand that it will probably take a few months (6 months is a number I’ve heard a lot) before you can expect to earn any amount that will make an impact on you. With that said, if you have prior experience with web design, seo, or any internet marketing you should be able to make money as a poker affiliate a lot sooner than that.
In fact, I can come up with a new idea for a website and have it earning money within a week sometimes. If you know the process on how to make money as a poker affiliate the money will come a lot easier. You will notice a trend that the longer a poker affiliate has been in the business the more money they are making. This can be for a number of reasons, but the main thing is they know the process for making money as a poker affiliate.
When I was first starting up as a poker affiliate I really had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t have any design experience, didn’t know what SEO meant, and didn’t really understand that I would need to provide actual value in order to make money. It took me a few months to earn my first bit of income from a poker affiliate, and then I was hooked.
Because you probably want numbers that you can expect to earn if you become a poker affiliate I will throw out some general ideas on what a poker affiliate income can be…. of course it depends on a lot of things: how fast you learn, how much you know, marketing experience, how much time you dedicate to working, etc, etc. Oh and even luck plays a role in things.
After you start generating income you can expect to make anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars per month. My guess on the AVERAGE income for a poker affiliate who has been working hard for 12 months would be maybe $1k-3k per month. Of course there are people who will still be earning a lot less and some earning a lot more.
If you stick with it for another year or two (2-3 years total) I think the average income is a bit higher, maybe between $3-8k. Again people on both sides of those numbers too – you could still be struggling to make $500 per month or you could be running a $1 million a year business, but that is my guess on a an average.
As you can see from the numbers I provided, you can earn a full time income as a poker affiliate fairly quickly if you work hard and smart enough.
The sky is the limit for earnings as an affiliate.
I wanted to end of this poker affiliate income post with a list of some quality sites within the online gaming industry:
I will be posting my monthly goal article for December and November recap at the start of December… have a good rest of November!
I just wanted to get a quick blog post up as I am back from Vegas and almost recovered… damn my third day home and I still don’t feel 100%. Vegas was a blast, and was what I full expected going with 7 other guys (21 and 22 years old). I didn’t do well with my gambling, but man we had a fun time at the clubs and by the pool during the day. We picked up three 30 cases of beer and a bottle of Vodka for Saturday and the cab driver thought that was for the weekend… we told him it was for the day and he called us crazy canucks – of course we polished that off during the day and went out at night to Pure at Caesars, good times. Honorable mentions to Enke’s home base in Vegas… the Spearmint Rhino was great, although we didn’t find Candy! All in all great trip.
In other affiliate news Dealer Dan got his new affiliate bible site live. I knew he was going to make it pretty special, as he always knows how to do things right, but damn this site is kickass. If you are an affiliate at any level (or have no clue what an affiliate is) you need to check out this site. Awesome articles are up there from his last site, he released a sweet step by step affiliate guide that is a must read, and has his blog going as well (with comments now!). Go check it out.
Also I would love if any of you affiliates out there could do me a big favor. I just started up a little YouTube Channel that I am looking for some subscribers. It looks pretty mickey mouse with only 3 people subscribed, and would love if you could subscribe to my NHL Predictions channel if you have an account (who doesn’t these days!). That would mean a lot to me, thanks guys! Here is a pic from Vegas.

Tomorrow I head out to Las Vegas with 7 buddies… going to fun and nice to get away from the computer for a few days! We are taking one of those 9 person buses to the Detroit Airport (2h 30min drive) and then flying out and should be checked into our hotel (Caesars Palace) around 7pm Vegas time. I’ll be there until Monday, which is definitely going to fly by. I’m pumped to be there for college football and NFL so I can do some betting, which is how I won money last year… unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to lay the 5 points on my Steelers in the Sunday night game.
Just lastnight me and Goldie (JohnG at PAL) got my new NHL Predictions template installed that he created for me. It isn’t 100% finished yet, but I hope to get everything done early next week. He did an awesome job and I think the template is a lot more conversion focused than my last template… looking forward to see an increase in conversions throughout the NHL season! I switched it over from html to wordpress so that I can do daily blog posts, which should get more visitors coming back to the site… an example if my first post for November 11th NHL Picks that I got up this morning.
When I get back from Vegas I have a lot of things I want to get done, and I am going to start taking my business more serious. One thing I plan on doing is getting on a more normal sleeping pattern where I wake up at 9am everyday and get to bed in decent time. When I’m on more of a set schedule I find I get a lot more work done.
Anyways just wanted to get a quick post up, wish me luck in Vegas! I’ll be sure to get some pictures posted when I get home.
This post is going to be a mix between my November Goals (and October recap) and little bit about my new affiliate “experiment”. It will be a bit shorter than most posts because I am heading to the movies in a bit, but I wanted to get it up tonight.
For those of you reading the PAL forums, you have probably seen the discussions about the affiliate “experiment”. Basically I am sick and tired of a lot of stuff going on with the gaming industry… late payments, lower commissions, etc… and I am looking to expand my business into other niches. I decided it would be cool if I could get a couple other poker affiliates to test out other markets too, so that we could talk, brainstorm, bounce ideas and results off each other, etc. The experiment is basically just start your own site within another niche, and try to monetize it to make money (whether now or in the future).
Working on a topic you enjoy or are passionate about will be a lot easier and feel less like work, so I decided to get build a site around something I do 4-6 times a week – “workout”. I really enjoy working out and have a lot of experience with it. I know there are workout or sports supplement affiliate programs out there plus a lot of different ebooks and products that you can become an affiliate for. I decided to start a site that will help people find out where you can buy supplements online, which will of course have my affiliate links within the content.
I don’t have too much else to say about the site as it is very new, but if you are interested in discussing things hit me up on chat or join our weekly “mastermind” group where we talk affiliate marketing stuff.
October was a crazy month for me… for those of you following the forums you have probably also seen the thread about me contemplating dropping out of school. I still haven’t really come to a full out decision, but I know I am at least cutting down on classes to move forward with my business.
OCTOBER RECAP:
Post all NFL game previews plus at least 5 CFB articles each week – Yup.
Find a full time writer for hockey blog – Have a couple writing for me.
Post articles for a lot of the MLB playoff games – Did this.
Get poker site ranking top 3 for its keyword (currently 6th-ish) – Meh it was 2nd one day, 3rd another, now back to 6th… been bouncing around all over the place.
9k affiliate revenue – Hit this.
expenses under 3k – Not even close, but I sold my bingo site so I used that cash to re-invest. If I didn’t sell the site I probably would have been at right around 3k… will need to cut down this month for sure.
NOVEMBER AFFILIATE GOALS:
As far as personal goals I want to cut a little bit of weight before I head to VEGAS!! Leaving November 12th with 7 other friends… very excited as last time there was only three of us there and I didn’t get to do everything I wanted to. So hit the gym 5-6 times per week and eat healthy.. been slacking a little bit lately with my eating. I also want to figure out my school situation… I’ll be doing that basically this week though. Just for fun here is a pic below of me on Haloween…. have a good November everyone!
